Designed in England, STOW products are hand-crafted by professional leather artisans in Andalucia, Spain, using the finest supple Spanish leather and soft Italian goat suede. Our products are sustainably made and our materials sustainably sourced. Each design undergoes a rigorous sampling process, meaning that some pieces are a year or more in the making. STOW is dedicated to re-writing the narrative of poorly-made, over-produced accessories that flood the market. Each STOW design is thoughtfully crafted with longevity, and our beautiful planet in mind. We are actively working hard to reduce waste and minimise overconsumption by crafting beautiful, life-lasting accessories for home and away that are not trend-led and will stand the test of time. Materials – Since 2013, all of our materials have been responsibly sourced. Knowing the provenance of our materials is essential. The materials we use are from leading European gold-rated Leather Working Group Tanneries who are environmentally certified. Carbon Footprint – We are dedicated to keeping our CF to a minimum and source and manufacture in Europe. All orders are shipped via the DHL Carbon Neutral service at an additional cost to us over and above their standard shipment fee. Via this service, DHL has supported projects including reforestation, landfill gas destruction, wastewater treatment and methane destruction among others. Zero Waste – Products are designed and retailed to last a lifetime. Each style is produced in small quantities using the finest, durable materials that will only get better with age. Our designs are non-seasonal meaning that we are not driven to over-produce by trends and do not throw away stock. At times we may sell out of stock, but we reorder when there is high demand and try to manage the stock flow as closely as possible. Our smallest accessories are produced from off-cuts of leftover leather. Leather Alternatives – Vegan substitutes to leather can often be damaging to the environment due to the processes involved in the manufacturing. STOW continues to work with our suppliers to source a sustainable leather alternative that is as suitably luxurious and sustainable within the faux leather sector. Ethical Practices – Our two partner factories are small, family-run businesses and consistently demonstrate high levels of employee satisfaction. Employees are paid competitively, daily working hours include the recommended breaks for breakfast, lunch and siesta, and both factories close for the month of August. Animal Welfare – We know exactly where and how our leather is tanned (Spain) and where each hide is sourced (Holland). Our hides are always a by-produc, meaning STOW will never use leather sourced from so-called leather farms often found in China or South America where animals are bred purely for their skin. No Plastic Packaging – No plastic is used in our packaging. All postal boxes, tissue paper, gift boxes, tape and gift wrap are fully recyclable. Our gift wrap is environmentally friendly, textured paper made from recycled cotton.
